With a growing number of employees at Société des Caoutchoucs de Grand Béréby (SOGB) missing work as a result of HIV infection and other workers dying of AIDS related illnesses, the prominent Ivorian rubber and palm oil producer recognized it needed to respond decisively to institute HIV/AIDS services for its employees and their families. To do so, SOGB established partnerships with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (the Foundation) and the Ivorian Ministry of Health (MOH) to create a successful, comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment program. This report describes the steps taken to establish the HIV/AIDS program, the program’s components and achievements to date, and the challenges and lessons learned.
