In the Khata areas of rural Nepal people who depend on forests are learning new ways to protect the source of their livelihoods. Farmers in the region have become stewards of the environment and advocates for integrating population-health-environment (PHE) programs into their community activities. Family planning and health issues have become an integral part of the community forestry program in Nepal. This document discuses the benefits of the PHE approach in the Terai Region of Nepal.
