A new formulation and presentation of Depo-Provera® will soon become available, offering the potential to create access for new users while improving continuation among existing users. This new version, known as depo-subQ provera 104™ in the Uniject®* device (depo-subQ in Uniject), contains 104 mg of depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) and is administered via subcutaneous injection. The Uniject delivery system is a small, autodisable injection device that is prefilled with the precise dosage of depo-subQ required for three months of contraceptive protection. Introduction of depo-subQ in Uniject provides opportunities to both strengthen clinic injection services and extend injectable contraceptive delivery safely and effectively beyond the clinic.
